About the Instructor

My name is Ms. Duncan.  The 2011 - 2012 school year marks my 15th year of teaching.  It will be my 13th year in CMS, as well as my 13th year at Providence.  I taught in Raleigh (at Broughton High School) for two years before moving to Charlotte.  I received a Bachelor of Science in Science Education as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry from North Carolina State University in 1997.  (Go Wolfpack!)

I teach Chemistry I (Honors and Standard levels) in Room 216.  Although I am certified to teach any high school level science class, Chemistry is by far my favorite - it always has been, and it always will be.  I truly enjoy teaching Chemistry, and I sincerely hope to pass on a love of learning (especially Chemistry) to my students.  I try to get students to learn how to solve problems using what they know and apply their knowledge to situations they encounter in "real life".

"In a completely rational society, the best of us would aspire to be teachers and the rest of us would have to settle for something less, because passing civilization along from one generation to the next ought to be the highest honor and the highest responsibility anyone could have."        - Lee Iacocca
